Hanukkah & Christmas Edible Houses & Cookies

Jason's Matzoh Lean-To. Note the festive Hanukkah decorations.
My (pre-baked Trader Joe's) gingerbread house.

Clay broke the oven. Then he and Jason fixed it.

Clay mixes up the 'royal icing' for the cookies.

Jason rolls the cookies out.

These are the cookies Jason and I decorated.

These are the more 'classical cookies that Monica decorated and attempted to spare from heaps of dye-colored sugar and sprinkles.

These are the sugar sprinkled masterpieces that Jason and I created when unfettered by Monica's good taste.

The heroic bakers!

Day of the Dead / Samhain Celebration at UU Church

This is the throne room of the crone in the underworld...The Day of the Dead Altar
After walking through three arches and giving up three symbolic offerings of an apple, beads, and shawl we arrived in front of the lights. Then we passed by the offeratory leaving a momento of passed relatives, greeted the crone and received a candle. Then we lit the candle while stating the names of the remember dead and placed the candle in the basin on the right above.

Visiting Christine, Kevin, & Silas, Late October

We did not spend all the time in bed, but Silas and I were hanging out after one of his naps.

One of Darwin's great redeeming factors is his ability to interpret behaviors that might otherwise irritating as loving...explains a lot about his own irritating behaviors, meowing constantly, maybe they are meant as love? This makes Darwin very good with Silas.

Rebecca's Wedding Oct 6th, Baltimore

Marshall, Alix (who is green here-not normally), me, Erica, Amar, Ross

My Medical School Posse minus Rebecca for obvious reasons.

Amar and Erica

Note that is exactly how Amar looks most of the time-mouth open making comments. Not that he is unusual among this group, but he is captured here in the moment.

Alix and Marshall

See she isn't green here. She looks lovely. I wish we had a picture of them with their even cuter baby Charlotte. But babies are not good wedding guests.

Hayes and James..aren't they a handsome couple!

Ross looking dapper in his bowtie!

Here is the table before we ate.....certainly the classiest wedding I had ever been to. The less formal pictures came out too dark...sad.

Oh Poor Hot Kitties

Sye finds the tile in the bathroom so refreshing.
Kitties have been striking interesting poses b/c of the near 90 degree heat here. Poor kitties. Poor Elise writing in the heat; my favorite cafe doesn't even have air conditioning.
Here are two more Dido pictures that are really cute......they both are in places that would make her hotter though....

Dido seems to think my laptop is the perfect size and shape for a cat seat. Thanks a lot Dido. Well, maybe I shouldn't have left it on the floor.

Clay's Birthday (and Labor Day)

So we had drinks on the stoop for Clay's birthday (which also happened to be Labor Day.)
Cecil, Laura, our neighbors and the owners of the kegorator,
and Jeremy, their friend and another brewer at Stone.
Clay with Christine and Jim, our neighbors here.
Christine, Jim, Cecil (petting Mr. Biggs the terrier) and Jeremy.
You can see Clay's exciting birthday salads with his birthday candle in it. Don't look at it that way. It is not my fault that he doesn't like cake!
Later when I took a nap Clay went out and bought some cow and bbq-ed it. Sneaky bastard.
